Willie Alice Gunselman, 93, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma passed away Sunday, June 21, 2020 at St. John Ascension in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Willie was born December 10, 1926 in Cayuga, Texas to James and Willie (Daniel) Godley. On February 2, 1951, she married Dean W. Gunselman and they shared a loving life together until his passing in 2002. In her 40s, she received her Master’s Degree in Education and went on to teach Special Education in a Junior High. In her spare time, she loved playing games, especially the card game Bridge. Gardening and tending to her roses was her passion.
She is survived by her daughter, Janet Barnes of Broken Arrow, OK; 3 sisters, Johnye Williams of Grand Prarie, TX., Mary Fern Little of Littleton, CO., and Betty Jackson of Winston-Salem, NC; 3 grandchildren, Jill Schilb, Will Gunselman, and Katelyn Grimm; 5 great-grandchildren, Carsyn Berg, Lillian Schilb, Isaac Schilb, Jaxson Grimm, and Sailor Gunselman; and many other loved ones.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dean Gunselman; her son Charles Gunselman; her siblings, Adora Smithen, Dorothy McDaniel, and James Godley JR.
The funeral service will be held Friday, June 26, 2020 at 1:00 pm at the Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Chapel in Springdale, AR. Burial will follow at Bluff Cemetery. For the funeral service, guests will be limited to 120 people and everyone will be required to wear their own facemask, per guidelines set forth by the State of Arkansas.
