Wayne Evan Mills

Wayne Evan Mills, 88, of Bentonville, passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at the Applecreek Nursing and Rehab in Centerton. 

Wayne was born on November 19, 1935, in Chicago, Illinois. He was the son of Evan Mills and Ruby Russell Mills. He received his associate’s degree in law enforcement from Oklahoma State University and was a retired Policeman from the Midwest City Police Force in Midwest City, Oklahoma. Wayne served his country with honor in the U.S. Navy Reserve, the U.S. Air Force and had retired from the U.S Air Force Reserve as a Tech Sergeant.  

Wayne was a talker who loved to tell stories, he enjoyed traveling, reading and was an avid jogger. He was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church in Siloam Springs. 

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Nora Mills of the home; two daughters, Heather Spurgeon and Holly Striegel, both of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; three step sons, Martin Fry of Bentonville, Monte Fry of Wichita, Kansas and Christopher Fry of Athens, Alabama; along with eleven grandchildren, and many great grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by parents and one sister Yvonne Leard 

Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home of Siloam Springs, AR.
