Mrs. Vola Edgmon, of Lowell, Arkansas, passed away Friday, June 29, 2018. Vola was born March 16, 1913 in Newton County, Arkansas to John Thomas and Mary Watson. She married Roy T. Edgmon on May 28, 1933.
They moved to NW Arkansas in the fall of 1945 where she took care of the home, family and raised chickens. She was well known for her quilts and quilting skills, gardening and her flowers. She was a long time member of the Phillips Chapel Free Will Baptist Church of Springdale, Arkansas.
In 2012 Mr. and Mrs. Edgmon were the Arkansas recipients of the Worldwide Marriage Encounter’s award for the Arkansas couple with the longest marriage.
She was preceded in death by her husband Roy, her mother and father, seven siblings, Nancy, Martha, Sally, Ellie, Dent, Otis and Logan and one grandchild Monroe Edgmon.
She is survived by two sons J.D. of Wichita, Kansas, Don of Lake Fork, Texas and one daughter, Frankie Scott of Springdale, Arkansas. Also, surviving are nine grandchildren, and numerous great, great-great, and great-great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held 2:30-3:30pm Monday, July 2, 2018 at the Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home in Springdale, Arkansas with the service following at 3:30pm with Dr. Randy Carroll officiating the service. Committal service to follow at the Friendship Cemetery.
