Vernon Ray Young, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2024, in Bella Vista, Arkansas, at the age of 89. Born on October 25, 1935, in Sapulpa, Oklahoma to Harold Young and Dolcie Lightfoot Young. Vernon lived a life defined by love, generosity, and an unwavering dedication to his family.
Vernon was predeceased by his wife, Joyce Young, and his son, Randy Young. He is survived by his children Cheryl (Eric) Kochen and Christopher Young, grandchildren Toby (Valerie) Johnston, Randi (Adam) Carter, Dustin Kochen, and Haley (Jordan) Falls. Vernon was also the proud grandfather of eight great-grandchildren, who will remember him for his warmth and affection, and he is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends who held a special place in his heart.
Vernon’s marriage to Joyce was a remarkable partnership that spanned many years. Together, they owned and operated Central Glass and Mirror, where Vernon’s business savvy and entrepreneurial spirit flourished. His dedication to his work and his family was a testament to his character, and he instilled the values of hard work and integrity in all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
In addition to his professional achievements, Vernon proudly served in the U.S. Navy, where he demonstrated his commitment to his country.
Vernon was actively involved in his community, becoming a valued member of both the Optimist Club and the Elks. His generous nature extended beyond his family; he was known for his willingness to lend a helping hand and offer support to those in need.
In his free time, Vernon enjoyed a variety of hobbies that brought him joy. He was passionate about computers, loved to travel, and cherished moments spent fishing and playing golf. However, above all, he valued the time spent with family, creating lasting memories that will be treasured.
He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered, as his life was truly a gift to all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
A Memorial Service will be held at Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home of Siloam Springs, Arkansas on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at 5:00pm..
