Truman Rex Murphy

Truman Rex Murphy, 87, of Springdale, Arkansas passed away Friday, July 29th, 2022 at Washington Regional Medical Center.

Truman was born March 22, 1935 to Noah Murphy and Rosie Guess-Murphy in Carroll County, Arkansas. On October 23, 1955, he married the love of his life, Della Rae. They shared many memories together until her passing in 2005. They enjoyed fishing, camping, and gardening together. Most of all, they cherished their family. Raising their children and then grandkids brought them the biggest joy of their lives. Truman drove a truck for Springdale farms and then became a diesel mechanic. He was a shop foreman for Lloyd’s Garage for 29 years and for JMC Truck & Trailers. He went into his own business “Murphy Truck & Equipment”. He rebuilt trucks and repaired trailers. He also bought wrecked trucks and salvaged out parts. During his time, him and his wife got into the cattle business and raised Herford Cattle. This was something that they both truly enjoyed.

He is survived by his 2 sons, Tim Murphy, and Jeff Murphy and wife, Shirley all of Springdale; 2 daughters, Ramona Ramsey and husband, Mike of Springdale and Jennifer Taylor and husband, John of Cave Springs; 1 sister, Donnie Burnett of Farmington; 7 grandkids, Meghan, Taylor, Jason, Rachael, Chelsey, Chad, and Amanda; 6 great-grandkids, Paden, Pressly, Delaney, Peyton, Paigely, and Wyatt; and many other loved ones.

The visitation will be held, 9am-10am on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 10am. Burial will be held at Friendship Cemetery.
