Shirley Ann Upton

Shirley Ann Upton, Springdale, AR went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 5, 2017. She was born in Ratcliff, Arkansas on October 28, 1938 a daughter of Buren and Etter (Grigsby) Storts. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.  She always had a meal ready and she welcomed all family, friends and guests to her home.  She was baptized on October 20, 2011.  

She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Ira Martin Upton; one son, Darryl L. Wood; both parents; and a sister, Mary Sue Worley.

Shirley is survived by her children; Dennis D. (Denny) Upton of Hindsville, Claude. E. (Don) Upton of Missouri, Rodney D. Wood of Springdale, David W. Wood of Elm Springs, and Dean O. Wood of Elm Springs; two daughters, Deborah J. Upton of Wesley and Kathy J. Calico of Huntsville; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at 2:00pm at the Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Chapel in Springdale. Pastor Clark Snow will officiate the service.  Committal service to follow at the Friendship Cemetery in Springdale, AR. Pallbearers are Jerry Bowen, Ira Matthew Bowen, Abel Witt, Marshall Wood, James Wood, Donald Upton, Trey Guilbeau and James Calico. Honorary pallbearers are Christina Bowen, Ann Wood, Penny Garrett, Diana Moran, Holly Barscheski, Jennifer Sisemore, Kevin Upton, Claudia Upton, Randy Wilmoth, Jaclyn Stephens and Amy Calico. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 from 4pm to 6pm.
