Ruth Corter, 93, of Springdale, Arkansas, passed away Saturday, September 26, 2020 at the Maples Nursing Home in Springdale.
Ruth was born on April 19, 1927 in Morrow, Arkansas, a daughter of Frank McCarty and Lillie Hurst McCarty. She was the widow of the late Roy Corter, whom she married on June 12, 1948. Ruth was a homemaker and a member of the Gospel Tabernacle Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, quilting and sewing including making all of her own dresses and making her children’s clothes for many years. She delighted in sending cards to friends and family as a way to show her love.
She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Schwyhart and husband Bill of Dallas, Texas, and Sharon Main and husband Bobby of Springdale; one son, Jim Corter and friend Gail of Springdale; 5 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Roy Corter, her parents, a daughter in law, Barbara, a great granddaughter, Anna, six brothers and six sisters.
Visitation will be held at the Gospel Tabernacle in Springdale on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 from 1:30pm to 2:00pm. Funeral services will follow at the Gospel Tabernacle at 2:00 PM. Pastor Bobby Main will officiate the services. Burial will be conducted at the Zion Cemetery in Springdale under the direction of the Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home of Springdale.
