Nina “Faye” Gould, 97, a lifelong resident of Gravette, Arkansas passed away Saturday, November 16, 2024, at the Northwest Medical Center in Bentonville, Arkansas.
Faye was born on February 5, 1927, in Bentonville, Arkansas. She was the daughter of Harve Bishop and Cecil Nanette Woolwine Bishop. She was the widow of Leslie “Bud” Gould, who preceded her in death in May 1983. Faye graduated from Gravette High School and still kept up with her classmates from the classes of 1945 and 1946 after all these years. She worked at several jobs in Gravette including Check Out Clerk at Minson’s IGA, and in Medical Records at the Gravette Hospital. She was a member of the Gravette United Methodist Church and had been on the Board of the Gravette Museum. She was well known in the Gravette community and by the community around Beaver Lake, where Faye and Bud had bought property before Beaver Lake was constructed and still own it. She very much enjoyed going to their lake property, spending the weekend and fishing. In recent years she was very active at the Gravette Senior Center, where she and her companion Jeff would attend daily for their lunch meals and will be missed by the other attendees. Faye loved her dogs, especially her Boston Terrier Sophie (Sophia Jane) who preceded Faye in death and will have her cremains interred with her and her current rescue dog Max. She was well known for making pies and was famous especially for her Cherry pie.
Faye was a true matriarch of the family and was very much loved and will be extremely missed by her daughter, Jennifer Colvin and husband Randy of Berryville; two grandchildren, Melissa Mills Douglas, and Marc (Tammy) Mills; two step grandchildren, Jennifer (Shawn) Colvin Robertson, and Julie (Greg) Colvin Baker; six great grandchildren, Stacia (Zach) Harmon, Kate Douglas, Connor Douglas, Dylan Douglas, McKayla Mills, and Callie Mills; four step great grandchildren, Zach (Meg) Davis, McKenzie Ruiz, Dustin Robertson, and Chloe Swofford; three great great grandchildren, Emery Harmon, Blakely Harmon and Olivia Harmon; and two step great great grandchildren, William Davis and Evelyn Davis. She also leaves behind her special friend and companion, Jeff Mortensen; nieces, Susan Birkes and Kelley Birkes; nephew, Mike (Charlotte) Kimbrough; and many other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Dan and Raymond Bishop and two sisters, Ruth Kimbrough and Vida Kelley.
There will be a Gathering of Friends and Family at the Mt Pleasant Baptist Church near Gravette on Saturday, November 23, 2024, from 1:00pm to 2:00pm. Private Graveside services will be held at the Mt Pleasant Cemetery. Pastor Lannie Younger will officiate the services. Arrangements are entrusted to Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home of Siloam Springs, AR.
