James Murphy

James Allen Murphy, 68, of Chewey, Oklahoma passed away peacefully Friday, October 13, 2023 at the Earlene Howard Hospice Home in Springdale.

James was born October 6, 1955 in Batesville, Arkansas but was raised in Poughkeepsie, Arkansas. He was very proud to say that he accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior. He lived a great, memorable life around the area. He spent most of his time outdoors going catfishing, gigging frogs, and hunting. He enjoyed spending time at the river, but if he saw a snake-you’d see him running on water. Most of all, he loved sharing laughter with his family and friends.

He is survived by his beloved companion, Sharon Sands of the home; son, Tal Sands and wife, Rachel of Siloam Springs, Arkansas; daughter, Lea Murphy of Thayer, Missouri; brother, Jery Murphy of Searcy, Arkansas; sister, Joan Burch of Lynn, Arkansas; good friend, Grover Young; and many other family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father; mother, Mary Cranford; paternal grandparents, Leo and Edna Murphy; and maternal grandparents, Walter and Beulah Yates.

The funeral service for James will be held 12:00pm, Monday, October 16, 2023 at Edify Church in Chewey, Oklahoma. Bro. Ethan Sands and Bro. Jonathan Fain will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Sands Cemetery under the direction of Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home of Siloam Springs, Arkansas.
