Gary Lloyd Hampton, 71, of Watts, Oklahoma, passed away at his home on Thursday, January 13, 2022.
Gary was born on April 2, 1950, in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. He was the son of William Lloyd Hampton and Marvie Holland Hampton. He married Linda Lou Mallory on December 28, 1968, in Watts, Oklahoma. Gary attended Westville High School and graduated in 1968, he later went on to receive his Masters of Ministry degree from the Southwestern Christian University in Bethany, Oklahoma.
Gary was a Pentecostal minister, ministering for over 50 years all over the United States, as well as pastoring churches in several different states including, Virginia, Colorado, Alabama, as well as Oklahoma. He ministered on many trips to Mexico, Sri Lanka, India, Nigeria, and the Ukraine. He enjoyed playing guitar, singing and listening to good music. He also loved spending time with family and friends. Perhaps his most favorite “hobby” was discussing and sometimes debating various theological viewpoints.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Hampton of the home; two sons, Donathan Hampton of Owasso, Oklahoma and Darris Hampton of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; two sisters, Joyce Lowe of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Gail Webster of Watts, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Blake, Mallory, Dillon, Christopher, Dakota and Lucas; two great grandchildren, Wesley and Sophie; along with many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, David Hampton.
Visitation will be held at the Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home on Monday, January 17, 2022, from 5:00pm until 8:00pm.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at 10:00am at The Assembly church in Siloam Springs. Burial will be conducted at the New Hope Cemetery near Chewey, Oklahoma. I remember Brother Hampton as a great preacher. Many of his messages we so challenging to me at that time in my life. I thank God for those times. He was wonderful man to be around. We are praying for his family that God will comfort them.

Many memories of being with y'all flood my mind. The many church services, meals around the table, even fasting together, and so much laughter. Love you all and are pray for God to wrap you in His arms and give you comfort.

Listening to him preach while sitting on the cellar outside the church in Chewey, I was not saved at the time but he sure made the heart feel good. My friend I can still hear your voice and one day I'll join you in Heaven and sing right alomg with you ,Bajel Hilderbrand.

Oh what a memory of Bro. Gary along with Bro. Fred Wiley and Bro. Danny McDuffie. We took a trip by an automobile from Semmes, AL to Export PA. Wow, what a trip!
