Frank Da Yang

Today, we mourn the loss of a beautiful human, husband, brother, brother-in-law, father, and grandfather. His memory will live forever in our hearts. 

Frank Da Yang, 69, of McAlester, Oklahoma passed away Friday, October 6, 2023, at the Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX.

Frank was born in Phuxe Village on May 14, 1954, in the province of Vientiane, Laos. He was the oldest son of Za Cheng Yang and Mai Vue Moua. He served as a Hmong soldier during the Vietnam War. He was a farmer before he got sick, and he battled cancer until he passed away.

He is survived by his wife, Tia Lor, six sons: Chong Yang, Dao Yang, Chueyee Yang, Cheetau Yang, Leng Yang, and Larly Yang and two daughters: See Yang and Sue Yang; two younger brothers: Nao Khoua Yang and Chia Kao Yang, and three younger sisters: Ia Yang, Pa Yang, and Choua Yang; with five granddaughters and six grandsons.

Frank loved his family above all else and was the center of their universe. He brought his family to the United States as a refugee in 1986, for safety, freedom, and to build a new life for his family.  He was curious and a hard worker; he loved fishing and hunting. Most of all, Frank was an incredible father and grandfather; he cherished his children and grandchildren. He loved being a grandpa. He was humble, intelligent, and skillful in many ways.

Frank’s Funeral Service will begin at 7:00 am on Sunday, November 19, 2023, at the Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Chapel and continue until burial at 11:00am on Monday November 20, 2023 at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Siloam Springs, AR.
