Esther Mary Elizabeth Allen, 88, of Centerton, Arkansas passed away peacefully Thursday, August 17, 2023, at Apple Creek Health and Rehab.
Esther was born to Robert and Ota Short on November 17, 1934, in Texarkana, Texas. In her life, she loved drinking coffee, playing slot machines, and word puzzle books. She also had a great fondness for Elvis Presley, gospel music, and telling stories from her life. Most important to her was her family, whom she loved spending time with.
She is survived by three sons, Dwayne Allen and wife Kammy of Lowell, AR, Dwight Allen and wife Chrystal of Miami, OK, and James Allen Jr. and wife Jill of Carthage, MO; two daughters, DeeAnn Meyer and husband Cary of Gentry, AR, and Debbie Gurule and husband Ivan of Southwest City, MO; one brother, Andrew Short of Sand Springs, OK; 15 grandchildren, Kelly Carr, Aaron Meyer, McKenzie Johnson, Jesse Allen, Bethany Allen, Juli Jones, Jackie Brummett, Cortnay Bolton, Savana Connett, Tanya Speight, Kyle Boyle, Ashley Starr, Stephen Landrum, Colton Allen, and Keeven Allen; numerous great-grandchildren, and many other loved ones.
She is preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Nadine Glenn; two brothers, John Short and Jim Short; and one grandson, Kelvin Boyle.
The Funeral Service will be held at the Backstrom-Pyeatte Chapel in Siloam Springs, AR on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at Dickson Cemetery in Cherokee City, AR.
