Emma Jo Place

Emma Jo Place, 87, of West Siloam Springs, Oklahoma passed away peacefully at her home on January 7, 2021.

Emma Jo was born on July 25, 1933 in Delaware County, Oklahoma to Raymond A. and Hazel Marie (Ketterman)Anderson. She was the widow of the late Kenneth Place whom she married on May 21, 1955 in Siloam Springs and preceded her in death on Dec. 30, 2000. Emma worked for her family’s feed store in her youth then, when she married Kenneth, they owned and operated Kenneth Place Leasing, where she worked until her retirement.  Emma loved gardening, both vegetable and flowering gardens, was an excellent cook, enjoyed OU football and watching music and cooking shows.

She is survived by one daughter, Melinda Jo Forrest and husband Dugan of West Siloam Springs; one son, Michael Kent Place of West Siloam Springs; five grandchildren Kenley Happy, Chance Staneart, Kelsey Deason, Sammi Jo Place and Dakota Place, and six great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers Bill and Loyd Anderson and one sister, Reta Shelley.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to the direction of the Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home of Siloam Springs.
