Denver Lee Whitehead

Denver Lee Whitehead, 81, of Gentry, Arkansas passed away at the V.A. Medical Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas on Sunday, December 22, 2024. 

Denver was born on September 10, 1943, to parents Cline and Sarah (Denson) Whitehead in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. On April 24, 2004, he married the love of his life, Jacqueline Cromin. He served honorably in the United States Air Force and defended his country during the Vietnam War. After his service, Denver went on to retire from the Tennessee National Air Guard and also worked for Defense Depot and Firestone Tires. He was active in the VFW Post 1674 in Siloam Springs, Arkansas, Sons of Legion Post 29, and the American Legion Post 154 in Gentry, Arkansas. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing and hunting, and singing old gospel music. He was also a great cook, and entered many barbecue competitions. 

He is survived by his wife, Jackie Whitehead, of the home; two sons, Kevin Whitehead of Burleson, Tennessee, and Keith Thompson and wife Karren of Gentry, Arkansas; three daughters, Karla Sipes and husband Randy of Eucha, Oklahoma, Deena Cecil and husband Greg of Colcord, Oklahoma, and Kristina Curran and husband Rob of Gentry, Arkansas; 17 grandchildren, and 25 great grandchildren. 

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Willene Whitehead; one brother, JT Whitehead; and two sisters, Donna Brewer and Laura Travis. 

A Visitation will be held on Friday, December 27, 2024 from 5:00PM to 8:00PM at the Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home in Siloam Springs, Arkansas.

A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, December 28, 2024, at 10:00 am at the Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. Burial will follow at the Gentry Cemetery of Gentry, Arkansas.
