Bobby Gene Self

Bobby Gene Self, age 86, of Hindsville, AR, passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2023. Bob was born on December 7, 1936, in Boxley, AR, the son of the late Claude Self and Melva (Edgmon) Self. 

On June 16, 1962 he married, Verna M Croxton, and she preceded him in death on October 23, 2012. Bob was also preceded in death by his parents, one grandchild, Kevin Allen, and one great grandchild, Clayton Matthew.

Bob owned AR-GO electric company and worked as a master electrician in the City of Springdale and all of Northwest Arkansas. He was an honorary graduate of the Springdale High School class of 2022 as one of four Super Seniors who joined military service prior to the graduation of the class of 1956.

Bob attended the Astounding Grace Church in Hindsville, loved the outdoors, camping on the Buffalo River by the home he was born in, farming, working with cows, and gardening. Bob loved to work on projects and was known to always have numerous on-going projects. 

Bob is survived by his loving daughters; Brenda Embry (Allen) of Huntsville, AR, Janet Fawcett (Bill) of Fort Smith, AR, and Laura Brasuell (Tracy) of West Fork, AR; a brother Noel Dean Self (Marie) of Springdale, AR; four grandchildren Matthew, Jacob, Ty, and Joshua, four great-grandchildren Hallie, Luke, Mariam, and Lucy, and his cat Lucy.

Friends may visit with the family at the Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home in Springdale on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 from 5 – 7pm. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at Noon at the Astounding Grace Church located at 121Madison 7392, Hindsville, AR 72738. Burial will be in the Mossville cemetery, 89-500 AR-21, Jasper, AR 72641 at 3pm on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 with Military honors.
